Our Story
A simple but powerful belief.
St. Augustine Maternal Support Services was born from a simple but powerful belief: every pregnant and postpartum person deserves access to compassionate, high-quality support — regardless of income, background, or insurance status. Founded as a DBA of St. Augustine Health System Inc., our organization addresses critical gaps in maternal health care that disproportionately affect underserved communities in Maryland.
Too many mothers face pregnancy and birth without the emotional, physical, and informational support they need. Research shows that doula care leads to healthier outcomes — lower rates of cesarean delivery, preterm birth, and low birthweight, plus higher rates of breastfeeding. Yet access has remained out of reach for many families. We exist to change that.
Based in Windsor Mill, Maryland, we serve Medicaid-eligible pregnant and postpartum individuals throughout the state. With Maryland's Medicaid Doula Program now ensuring services are free for eligible members, we're proud to be part of this transformative movement in maternal health equity.
